Will prices go up on Wholesale Dresses? Here is an interesting article for all you retailers and wholesalers out there. Government Steps Up Labor Enforcement in Los Angeles at Local Garment Factories Federal and state labor officials in California cracked down on garment factories in Southern California that don’t pay minimum or overtime wages and don’t register their businesses. It launched on Aug. 7, when 10 teams of about 50 people from the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division inspected 10 garment factories that employed around 200 workers in the heart of the Los Angeles garment district. It resulted in $217,844 worth of citations for failure to carry workers’ compensation and not having a garment license. Audits will be conducted to determine whether workers were being paid minimum wage or overtime pay. The U.S Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division will announce the results of this investigations at the end of 2012 but will keep up its inspections of garment contractors in Los Angeles and Orange counties for several years to come.
